Tim is known for his subtle use of texture and colour on porcelain, but this latest work moves him into uncharted territory. Each of his unique bowls, vases and ceramic boxes are thrown on the wheel and enclose a space filled with texture, colour and surprise. The new flowing, loosely applied glazes surround and enclose precise forms, creating a dichotomy between the interior and exterior space. Smooth, glossy or textured, each of these coloured pieces beg to be handled. Tim goes to great lengths to achieve the right texture and colour for the perfectly thrown pots. Developing new glazes plays an important part of Tim’s life as a potter.
