Nicola Crocker’s work is inspired by the coastline and landscape in North Devon. Interested in the nature of the clay; the forms she can produce from it, the colours and how the two can work together.
Nicola has always loved crafting from an early age. On leaving school she had no clear direction down which path life would lead me, an opportunity arose and she decided to take up a course at Slough College to train as a chef. Training and working as a chef gave me Nicola opportunity to be creative in her work, particularly as she worked as a pastry chef and made wedding cakes.
Graduating from North Devon College in 2011 with a Foundation Degree in Ceramics, she is now on a period of exploration and discovery in clay. Recent developments have seen the move from her studio at home to a shared studio with her friend, colleague (and tutor from college) Taz Pollard. Together they have set up the North Devon Ceramics Academy & Studio in South Molton.
